what is the best way to clean mini blinds?

the blinds I have the most problems with I leave the window cracked open and so much dirt gets inside and it takes and hour to clean them. Any solutions to cleaning them or repelling the dirt off of them?

  1. i tried to clean them ended up throwing them away. After soaking them the string would begin to unravel. I hate them.
  2. I take mine down and clean them in the tub. I open them up completely and spray them with bathroom cleaner. I then fill up the tub with hot water to rinse them off. I then stand them up on there sides until dry and them come out beautiful every time. I soaked one once in bleach and it turned yellow.
  3. I've tried everything from the bathtub to taking them outside and using a garden hose on them. It's just plain not worth the trouble! Buy new ones.
