Does anyone know of a cheaper option for Stain Glassed windows?

I am wanting to replace a frosted piece of glass in my front door with a more colourful stain glass style to suit my heritage home. I remember seeing a Better Homes & Garden show years ago which used this cheaper version. Just curious as to what its called so that I can phone around for prices.

Thankyou

  1. I have clear glass, and I used a vinyl cling that was meant to look stained glass. I bought it at a home improvement store for about $20, just measure, cut and apply. I love it and everybody that's been to my house thought it was real stained glass. Even better, I can change the "stained glass" design. There were about four patterns.
  2. You can use that cling stuff that they sell at Lowes or HD,

or you can buy the stained glass overlay. The Stained Glass overlay looks and feels like the real thing but 1/2 the cost.

  3. I believe what you are looking for is window film. I installed some in my living room windows after buying it from Lowe's. Home Depot has some lovely selections as well. There will be measuring and cutting involved but there is a good amount to work with. I sprayed the window after measuring and cutting the film and squeeged it on. It looks great and can come off anytime.

I also redid our front door window to look like stained glass by painting it with PermEnamel glass paints by Delta. The result is beautiful and still makes our mail carrier smile every time she delivers to the door.

    Good luck
  4. They also sell a stain that is made for doing windows to give it a stained glass effect..
  5. Go into Michaels Craft store they have kinda a craft paint that turns into a clear stained glass effect. They also have a led that is used with it....not real led thow but you can make any shape you like it's kinda net. Just ask someone in Michaels
