What is the best way to clean horizontal plastic blinds?
I have to have my blinds cleaned in my apartment before I move out. Don't want to pay someone 12 dollars/blind, so need advice on the best way to clean them myself. Thanks for the help.

- If they are really dirty and easily removed, take them down and put them in a bath tub full of soapy water and scrub them. Rinse with the shower. Dry with towels.
If they are not that dirty you can just use a damp towel to wipe them. I use the micro fiber towels sold as car drying towels. Those are the best cleaning towels I have found.
- use those lysol wipes or take it off and rinse them in the shower/tub with warm soapy water
- Use a painting roller (one for emulsion paint is best). They come in three widths and if you spray on window cleaner first, the dust sticks and just wipes off.
- That is no fun job, I've tried several methods. One is, taking them down, filling the bathtub with washing powder and TSP. Then submerging them in the water, and using a soft brush, cleaning them up. This does the job, but is time consuming.
I have also hung them up on my yard fence and used a power washer, to clean them. As you live in an apartment, that's not much of an option.
Depending on how dirty they are, you can buy devices in the hardware store that cleans blinds.
If you can afford it, it's often easier to buy new ones. But if you have several that can be expensive, Good luck.
- damp paper towel
- Yup; in the shower with a brush & some pine sol or other good grease cutter. Can be hung on clothes line to drip dry. comes out good as new.
