How do I get my brand new blinds to stop squealing when I open and close them?

I just moved into a new house. The blinds are new but squeal horribly when opened and closed. It is a rental house so I do not want to buy different ones. Does anyone know of an inexpensive way to get the terrible noise to stop?

1. Try rubbing some baby oil on the 2 top corners of the steel part! This should do the trick!
2. spray a bit of furniture polish on the mechanism..
