  1. Here are a few possible things to use.

For vegetables, whatever the weather, I want the ground to be forever moist and leach away to the air as little as possible, so I cover the entire ground around ALL the plants (as soon as they are up) with an organic mulch, that is anything including cut weeds, as long as there are no seeds on them to sprout.

If you are talking flowers, how about a lattice covering over the beds, so that less of the sun (note: the lattice does let in enough sun, but provides some shade also.

Of course neither of these give much humidity to the are.

Then there is what I use for humidity on inside plants, expecially those which like tropical humidity. Take a large dish or several large dishes or pans, etc and fill them with pea gravel, that is small stones and then cover them almost to the top of the stones with water (refilling the pans as often as needed). The added surface area of the stones allows much more place for water to be given off into the air, rather than just watering the ground or putting out pans of just water.

Hope one or all of these help
  2. Get a humidifier at your local Canadian Tire / Walmart... yes it will give a little heat, but much 'mist' too. If $$ is short, fill a kettle, let the water boil away, repeat 3 times a day.
  3. The best way to do this is to set trays underneath your pots with pebbles in them. Keep water on this tray and that will make it humid enough for any plant.
